CHASING DRACULA
Bram Stoker’s book ‘Dracula’ put Transylvania on the map. But does Transylvania truly exist or is it just a fairy tale land? The answer proves to be fascinating for those who are willing to dug deeper: Yes, Transylvania is a region within the country of Romania.
Come and discover a piece of Transylvania following the famous Dracula`s footsteps Bram Stoker’s character based on the life of Vlad Tepeș/ Vlad the Impaler, a ruler of Wallachia.
Itinerary
Bran Castle
Early in the morning we start our journey north of Bucharest, and in about 3 hours we reach Bran Castle known as Dracula`s castle situated on top of a hill, a medieval fortress dating from the 14th century. Surrounded by a mystical and mythical aura, the castle can convince its visitors that the maleficent Dracula
resided there.
Snagov Monastery
On an island in the middle of Snagov lake we visit a late 14th century monastery, the controversial site of Dracula` burial place. Aside from this, the monastery preserves the original 16th century frescoes, an example of medieval art in Romania.
Bucharest Princely Court
We end the day back to Bucharest were we visit the princely court built by Vlad the Impaler in the 15th century. The construction of the old Princely Court in Bucharest triggered the development of the city, that started to grow in size and importance.
